The subject of the monograph is the analysis of social capital as a factor of local development in the rural poviats of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, and the main objective of the empirical research was to examine the relationship between the level of social capital and economic development in these counties. This issue is important from the point of view of both the significance of social capital for regions and local communities, and the creation of socio-economic development by local authorities.
Qualitative research consisted of analyses of the trust of individual respondents and an analysis of the level of respondent participation yielded very interesting results, including those resulting from a comparison of the level of social capital in selected counties of the West Pomeranian Province with the level of representative nationwide studies. Monograph is not only a significant contribution to the discussion on the level and role of social capital in Poland and its territorial differentiation but also gives a recommendation for future actions by local government bodies to influence social capital and modify policies stimulating the development of social capital.
Monograph is a reliable study of the relationship between social capital and economic development and is of cognitive value. The author has demonstrated both theoretical and practical knowledge in the study of this economic phenomena, as well as creative use of various statistical methods.
